Yesterday doctor's visit went well and was very informative.
My blood tests show my red blood cell count still on the low side but not critical. I will start taking iron pills to help raise the count.
My new chemo treatments will be every week for 12 weeks. They are 3 different types of chemo that will be given in 3 week cycles. The 1st week I will get all three types, so that will be the hardest week on all my cells. The other 2 weeks I will get just 1 type of chemo. My oncologist told me that I will be receiving chemo treatments that will attack the type of cancer I have, HER2, directly because of the type of cells surrounding the tumor and not affect my non cancerous cells. This will happen on week 2 and 3 of the cycles.
One of the things they we are monitoring is how my heart reacts to the treatments. So before I start the next round of treatment they will be giving me another Echo Cardiogram test. That will be happening this week and then the following week I should be starting back on the Chemo treatments. Chemo is very hard on a person's heart so they need to check it out every 3 months.
Thank all of you for your prayers, thoughts, call and cards.
God Bless You,
Marilyn
PS Cayuse pass is now open so now it is only a 2 hour trip in instead of 2 1/2 hour trip and it is a very beautiful drive though the mountains.
